Photo Fwd: Workers Visit Gangjeong Village: No Naval Base in Jeju Island!!

where the villagers have had the vigil since the police raid on Jan 18.

Six workers who belong to the Pan-Korean Industrial & Regional General Labor Union Association visited the Gangjeong village and took the photo with the villagers and activists there, to encourage the villagers who have protested against the naval base for more than three years. According to Kho, the workers expressed their will of solidarity and wish of keeping in touch, with the villagers.

The workers are from Samsung General Labor Union, Pyeongteak/ Ansung Regional Labor Union, Gyungbuk General Labor Union, Seoul General labor Union, Incheon General Labor Union, and Jeju Regional Council of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions.

* Reference: The construction companies that the navy has employed for the harbor and bay construction, which is the beginning of the base construction, are Samsung and Daerim, the very companies that have been deeply connected to the Yongsan tragedy on Jan. 18, 2010. There was the POSCO (Pohang Iron and Steel Company), the protested ROK company by the workers in India was also included in the Yongsan tragedy.)
