The red satiric letters in a circle read:

Warning:
This area is a military area where the navy has illegally occupied.
In case of trespassing without permission, the navy will arrest you,
whether you are male, female, old, young or tourist.

Unit Commander, Navy 1818

An artist drew some faces of the Gangjeong villagers.

The letters read:
‘I need your
hypocrisy and blood.'

The while cloth meandering the lava molten rocks symbolizes the underwater sprung from the beneath of the Jeju Island. The Gangjeong village has been long time proud of its abundant clean water that has made possible of all the creatures living there and of the village's rich harvest, as the two letters of its name 'Gang' and 'Jeong' both mean water. If the naval base construction is driven with its first part, concrete will be poured over all these beautiful rocks and sea off the coast, killing all the endangered species there.

The exhibition site has been filled with many beautiful scenes of the Gangjeong village and its sea. The solidarity messages from the Koreans and internationals have also been displayed in the small wood panels hanging from the ceiling of this makeshift tent.
The visitors can sign to oppose the ROK and Island governments’ naval base plan here

The blue water of the Il-Gangjeong
by Kim Soon-Nam

Crossing and crossing over
Ridges and furrows rolling with wind,
An Island
Having laid its body
In the lowest place
Of the world,

A Mother’s sea
Loaded with the Sun and Moon,
With a bomal* and an obunjak* playing house
And a red-feet crab playing hide-and-seek behind them

A sea
With the tears of its bare skin,
Dwelled among its splendid things,
Poignantly shifting

A yellow legume flower
Being burst of its thread veins
By its own petal thoughtlessly blossoming,
A Sotae* bearing a wind of knife,
They say my blue persistence should be suppressed.
They say the school of the sweet fishes bearing beautiful spawn
In the clean water of the Gangjeong stream
Is the object to be suppressed.
They say it should be suppressed.

(translated)

* Bomal and Obunjak are the names of the shells, in Korean.
Those are peculiar in the southern sea of Korea, including the Jeju island.

* Sotdae is one of the Korean traditional cultural objects. Built of long and thin tree branches and standing in key areas of the village and other places, it is believed to protect the areas from evils.

3. Exhibition of art works by Go Gyung Hwa ( Oct. 8 to Nov. 9, 2010)

Go Gyung-Hwa, a woman artist in the Jeju has worked on the Joongduk Sea and its coast where the naval base was planned. With her sensitive seeing and delicate touch, even the textures of the rocks are expressed in her drawings. She uses the method of rubbing and copying the textures of the rocks there. Thanks to her, we remind hundred million years of the lives of the rocks, here.
